Matt's Place Foundation Receives $100,000 Grant from ALSFAC We Care

Coeur d’Alene, ID — Matt's Place Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of families battling ALS, has received a $100,000 ALSFAC We Care grant from ALS Finding a Cure®, a program of the Leandro P. Rizzuto Foundation. The funds will be used to create a series of videos for "Hope and Housing," a program aimed at helping families learn best practices for remodeling their homes to accommodate the disease.

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Over time, patients with ALS lose the ability to control their muscles and may require special modifications to their homes to maintain their independence and quality of life.

"We are so grateful for this grant from ALSFAC We Care," said Matt Wild, founder of Matt's Place Foundation. "This funding will allow us to create a valuable resource for families struggling with ALS, providing them with the information and support they need to make their homes safer and more accessible. Our goal is to help families impacted by ALS maintain their independence and dignity, and this grant takes us one step closer to achieving that goal."

The "Hope and Housing" videos will cover a range of topics, including accessibility home modifications, assistive technology, and home care services. The videos will be available on the Matt's Place Foundation website and will be distributed to ALS clinics, ALS associations, and support groups nationwide.

It is the mission of ALSFAC We Care to provide grants to organizations that ensure people with ALS (pALS) and family members receive the care they most desperately need, including financial, and emotional support.  This grant will make a real difference in the lives of families affected by ALS.
